What about Trusted House Sitters or other Free Exchange-Based Services?
As well-rated members of THS ourselves, we became dissatisfied by the lack of training provided to their sitter network - especially in regards to responsible house care, customer service, and how to handle emergency situations that may arise during sits.
While speaking with many THS members, we heard stories of house sitters abandoning pets, valuable items being stolen, and homes damaged by their sitters with little recourse for the homeowners. In our opinion, Trusted House Sitters gives amateur house sitters free range and responsibility to care for paying members homes and pets without proper training.
To be clear, we encourage responsible sitters to sign up for THS. We are a THS affiliate and it has played a positive role in starting our own business.
As the saying goes, you get what you pay for, and we encourage budget-seeking homeowners to be aware of the risks before using any Free Exchange House Sitting Services.
What if I travel for less than 3 weeks per year?
Our service economics are designed to provide high quality live in house sitting at a more affordable rate than most of the private market. In order to do so, we must impose some usage limits for potential customers, such as a minimum of 3 weeks service per year and a minimum of 1 week service per engagement.
What if I travel for more than 3 months per year?
Save even more time and money! We provide our most valued members with heavily discounted rates or even free weeks if they will need house sitting or live-in pet care services for more than 3 months per year.
Do you provide refunds?
If at the end of the fiscal year you have not used all time provided for your plan, you may receive a prorated refund for any remaining unused days based on your service level or roll the remaining time over into your next service year.
